If you ever want to learn more about that sort of thing, a good starting point for that is Matt Millman's Common Wire-To-Board, Wire-To-Wire Connectors, And Crimp Tools page.Īnyway, here's a larger image of what's pictured on Moddiy's site:įrom the looks of it on Moddiy, you can order cables up to 36 inches long, which is just under a meter in length. I make my own cables myself, but I've got the tools and knowhow to do so. Cable pinouts on psu ends of cables differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and even from model to model in many cases with the same manufacturer. If going for the longer cables from your psu, make sure to also mention which psu you've got (make and model). Probably best if you query them first and tell them exactly what you need, as well as how you want to hook them up (e.g., longer cables, directly from your psu to the pcb connectors, bypassing that cheap plastic block or a direct oem match that will allow you to replace those short crappy cables Gigabyte used in those cards). I really have no idea.Ĭan anyone here with superior technical knowledge maybe point me in the right direction? Ignore the red squares on the pic, i snatched it from another forum post.Ĭlick to expand. From the looks of it on Moddiy, you can order cables up to 36 inches long, which is just under a meter in length. I need to get the right parts, so the connect to the card itself and the pins are the right ones etc. But I don't really know enough about that kinda stuff. On forums they state they are Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 connectors.
What replacements are compatible with my card?
My problem is, I am not a super technical guy, so I don't know what to buy. I know it is possible to replace it, they are basically cheap plastic crap connected to the motherboard, and you can remove them easily. I also read some ended up with fried cards because of this issue. Maybe next time I disconnect cables and reconnect them, the pins will get pushed out again. So I decided to fix it myself but reseating the connectors and fastening them with hot glue.įortunately, it worked, but I am worried about for how long. They basically said that if I return it (its got like a 4 year warranty) then I go straight back to the back of the cue for 3080's. Since I couldn't RMA the card directly through Gigabyte in my country, it was up to the seller to handle it. The pins are all over the place, two of them got pushed out when I first connected my PCI-E power cables, and after some research, I found out it was a very common problem with this card (and the eagle, and the 3090 too). I'm one of those that got a card with the first iteration of the insanely bad molex power connector.
